Strongly. Its taproot, black, cylindrical, straight and fleshy, can reach 30 cm. Resistant to cold, however, reserve a sunny corner of the garden for it. It thrives best in deep, loosened, light, moist and cool soil. This plant is grown, harvested and eaten much like salsify. It can also stay in the ground for 2 years and thus give bigger roots. If flower stems appear, cut them immediately, except to take advantage of its beautiful yellow bloom.
