From the same family as the Tétragone, but native to the South African coast, here is another leafy vegetable particularly well adapted to the heat of summer. And original in addition: the plant is covered with a multitude of small transparent vesicles, like dew pearls. The raw, slightly tart leaves are very good in salads. The cooked stems and leaves are eaten like spinach.

Italian variety. Red pods with very large purple grains marbled with red. Abundant and grouped harvest. Good taste quality. Ideal for market gardeners.

Old variety. Delicious small light green grains. Harvest before full maturity (beginning of leaf fall) to obtain their beautiful green color and keep their fondant.

Large, elongated bright red grain. Excellent flavor, much appreciated for chili (with or without meat!).

Southern variety, very early, of the pink type of Eyragues. Pink marbled grain. Suitable for cassoulet.

Rustic variety, vigorous with grouped maturation, late. Many long pods of 5 to 6 large cylindrical white grains, typical of the traditional cassoulet bean.

An erect variety resistant to anthracnose. Long, thin and fleshy pod, bright yellow (length 15 to 17 cm). Abundant production and earlier than Rocquencourt butter. Good selection for market gardeners (Caillard 1973).

Perennial. Rockery plant with beautiful clusters of blue flowers that attract insects and make beautiful bouquets. Digestive properties, for herbal tea and cooking (beans).

Climbing plant (3 m) close to bindweed, with large blue, mauve, pink or white flowers that last all summer. Decorative foliage on trellis, wire mesh.

Mainly spring and fall lettuce. Very original variety with its long light green leaves resembling chestnut leaves, crunchy and sweet. Growth fast and slow to go to seed.

Spring and autumn lettuce, even summer lettuce north of the Loire. Bulky and firm apple with smooth, green-blond foliage, crunchy and very good flavor. Obtaining Clause 1974.

Summer lettuce. Round apple, very firm blond green, the inside remaining perfectly white and tender.
